Warranty Policy
Melwood Furnitures (Pvt) Ltd, located at No.35, Upper Indibedda Road, Moratuwa (“Melwood”, “we”, “us” or “our”), provides this Warranty Policy to assure customers that our furniture products are free from manufacturing defects and flaws in workmanship, subject to the terms outlined below.
1. GENERAL WARRANTY CONDITIONS
The warranty period begins from the date the product is delivered to the customer.
1.1 SOLID WOOD PRODUCTS
- 5-year warranty against timber quality issues and manufacturing defects.
1.2 SOFAS & OTHER UPHOLSTERED PRODUCTS
5 years for wooden structure and leg framework.
1 year for fabric or PVC upholstery.
1 year for foam and cushioning.
1 year for genuine leather.
1 year for stitching.
1.3 OTHER PRODUCTS
1 year warranty for furniture made from melamine, laminated board, plywood, veneer, or MDF.
1 year warranty for structures made of stainless steel or iron.
1 year warranty for quartz, granite, or marble tops.
1 year warranty for wall mosaics.
1 year warranty for accessories such as handles, pull-out units, railings, locks, hinges, light fittings, etc.
Note: No international warranty is provided for any Melwood items exported outside Sri Lanka.
2. ELIGIBILITY
Any manufacturing defect must be reported within 3 days of noticing the issue.
The warranty is non-transferable and requires a valid invoice, delivery note, and warranty card for claims.
Warranty will be void if unauthorized alterations or repairs are made.
The warranty duration is limited to the specific terms outlined above from the delivery date.
3. MELWOOD'S RESPONSIBILITIES
During the warranty period, subject to eligibility, we may:
Repair the defective product.
Replace the defective product with a new item.
Refund the original purchase price (if repair or replacement is not feasible).
All pickups and deliveries for repair/replacement will be made to the original delivery address unless otherwise agreed.
4. EXCLUSIONS
This warranty does not cover:
Improper assembly, misuse, modifications, or cleaning with harsh chemicals.
Normal wear and tear, cuts, scratches, accidents, or transport damage by third parties.
Damage from natural disasters (water, floods, sea spray, etc.).
Damage due to sunlight exposure or high humidity (unless stated for outdoor use).
Use of products for unintended purposes or rough handling.
Natural characteristics like grain, knots, mineral streaks in wood; color variations in marble/granite.
Stains, discoloration, or material aging due to time or user environment.
Expansion/contraction due to extreme temperature or humidity conditions.
Defects from negligence (e.g., spills of chemicals, bodily fluids).
Melwood’s inspection team will assess warranty claims. Any replaced parts will remain the property of Melwood. Melwood’s decision on warranty eligibility is final.
5. DISCLAIMER
Melwood is not liable for any incidental, special, or consequential damages including loss of income or business.
Warranty does not cover injury, death, or property damage due to customer negligence.
Warranty claims are limited to the purchase price of the product.
Product photos may slightly differ from actual items due to lighting and material variation.
Suitability of product for a specific use is the responsibility of the customer.
In cases where third-party warranties apply, Melwood is not liable for such warranties and is not obligated to intervene in third-party disputes.
6. GOVERNING LAW
This Warranty Policy is governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. All legal claims shall be handled by courts located within Sri Lanka.
7. AMENDMENTS
Melwood Furnitures reserves the right to update or modify this policy at any time to align with business or legal changes, without prior notice.
